New Hornets Guard
Coby White

The Charlotte Hornets have made a move, and honestly, it feels like a smart one. Earlier today, Charlotte acquired Coby White from the Chicago Bulls in a multi-team deal that also involved the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Hornets send out Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng, and three future second-round picks. In return, Charlotte gets White and veteran guard Mike Conley Jr., while Mason Plumlee heads to OKC to help balance the deal. Charlotte also receives a future second round pick from OKC. It isn't necessarily a splash, but a move that will help the Hornets continue their white-hot form long-term.

Overall, I am giving this trade an A-.

From a basketball standpoint, Coby White fits what the Hornets need right now, providing a massive boost off the bench as our 6th man. He brings steady scoring, shot creation, and pace, especially when Lamelo Ball sits or defenses load up on Brandon Miller. White has been putting up close to 19 points a game this season and plays with confidence, which is something this team sometimes lacks late in games. The fact that he is a North Carolina guy makes it even better. Fans already know his game, and he does not feel like a rental who needs time to connect with the city.

Giving up Sexton and future seconds stings a little, but this trade feels calculated. White is younger, more versatile off the ball, and easier to plug into different lineups. Conley also adds leadership for a young locker room pushing toward playoff relevance. The Hornets are clearly saying they want to win now without blowing up their future. The Hornets continue to prove that the culture has shifted in a positive direction, and hopefully this is a sign of going all in for a playoff push.
